Alexander Bublik has won seven straight matches. Last week in Gstaad, Bublik won the title, defeating Cerundolo J.M. in the final in three tight sets. That was his maiden ATP title on clay. Here in Kitzbühel, the Kazakh defeated Tirante in his opening match in straight sets. He saved all three breakpoints. In the second round, the Kazakh defeated Shevchenko in straight sets. He was great under pressure, saving all five breakpoints. Van de Zandschulp had no chance in the semifinals against the Kazakh. Bublik trailed 1-4 in the second set, but won five consecutive games and closed out the match. Looking at the past, Bublik has never succeeded on clay courts. However, he played his best tennis on every surface this season and looks to get into the top 20. This is his second appearance in Kitzbühel. In his debut campaign, 2020, Bublik lost against Hanfmann in the opening round in straight sets.
Arthur Cazaux has won four of his last five matches. Last week in Gstaad, the Frenchman lost against Bublik in the semifinals. This week in Kitzbuhel, Cazaux won against Buse in the opening round in three tight sets after spending over two hours. He defeated Comesana in the second round in straight sets. He offered and saved only one breakpoint. The Frenchman dominated against Struff in the quarterfinals, winning in straight sets. Once again, Cazaux saved all breakpoints. In the semifinals, the Frenchman defeated Rinderknech in straight sets. His serve was untouchable, not offering any breakpoints throughout the match. With that win, Cazaux entered his maiden ATP final. This is his debut campaign in Kitzbühel.
